PSU drops series to High Point
Penn State wasted a solid effort by Seth Whitehill and lost the deciding game in the series 7-4 to High Point.
Seth allowed just two earned runs in the six innings that he pitched but the bullpen faltered and blew the game. Whitehill left the game with a 4-3 lead but Calvin Grumley botched his relief effort in the seventh. Grumley got two early outs but then proceeded to walk the bases loaded. Hawkins comes in and promptly hits a batter giving High Point the tying run without them getting a hit (or putting a ball in play for that matter). He did manage to get the final out of the inning though but he compounded things by allowing three more runs in the eighth.
A game the guys probably should have won goes into the loss column.
