Lackluster performance leads to 5-3 loss to Akron
An across the board disappointing effort leads to a mid-week loss to a poor Akron team. The MAC is the twentieth ranked conference in the RPI. Akron, with a 1-5 MAC record, sits at the bottom of the league standings. Even with some regulars resting, PSU should have been able to handle them, but they never got things going.
The pitching staff gave up eleven hits, our offense could only manage two runs against Akron’s starter who came in with a 6.42 ERA, and the defense committed four errors (should have been five but a gracious scoring decision saved one). That’s not going to win you ball games against many clubs.
The only good to come out of it is that TJ Macy finally managed to make a game appearance. Even though his outing wasn’t all we could have hoped for, at least we know that he’ll be available for spot assignments here on out.
Plus they had a nice crowd of 1200 or so for a midweek game. Here’s hoping the weather holds through the weekend and that we can get a real crowd to help with some much needed wins.
