Nittany Lions close out regular season

UncleLar Take:

The Nits could use a good performance this weekend to improve their seeding going into the B10 tournament. It will be important to avoid facing Michigan on the second day of the tournament because the Wolverines will be throwing their ace. Because the tournament reseeds the bracket following the opening round, Michigan will face the lowest seed among the opening round winners. A third place finish would guarantee that the Nittany Lions don’t have to face the Wolverines on day two. A fourth place finish would mean if PSU wins their opening round game (against the fifth place finisher), they would need an upset by the sixth place team over the third place, or PSU would have to face Michigan. A sixth place finish would guarantee that PSU plays Michigan with an opening day win. As powerful as Michigan is, PSU really wants to nail down third so they can avoid the Wolverines until as late in the tournament as possible.

The SID does a good job of detailing what has to happen for PSU to both clinch a spot in the tournament an to claim third.
