PSU disappoints and drops the series final against Minnesota
The Nits came out flat and never really got it going today as they dropped the last game of the four game series in Minnesota. That gave PSU a dissappointing 2-2 split against the basement dwelling Gophers and means that PSU will have to await the outcome of Illinois games against Purdue this evening.
In order to knock Penn State out of the third spot, Illinois had to sweep the doubleheader against 2nd place Purdue while hoping Minnesota knocked off Penn State. The Gophers did their part and the Illini won won the first game 2-0. Now all Illinois needs to do is win the second game which will start about a half hour from now.
As I’ve mentioned before, the third seed is very important because the three seed can avoid a matchup with the first seed Michigan by winning their opening round game.
