Nittany Lions Drop Second Straight to Texas State
Penn State racks up 13 hits led by four multiple-hit efforts.
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Despite battling back from an early deficit, Texas State responded with 10 of the game’s final 11 runs on its way to a 15-6 win over the Penn State baseball team on Saturday. The Nittany Lions evened the score at five in the fourth inning, but the Bobcats responded with 10 runs over the next two innings to break the game open. Penn State looks to salvage the final game of the series on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET.
For the second straight game, Penn State racked up double-digit hits. This time, four Lions finished with a pair – junior Bobby Jacobs (West Chester, Pa.), redshirt freshman Elliot Searer (Lewistown, Pa.) and sophomores Joey DeBernardis (Lake Zurich, Ill.) and Jordan Steranka (Pittsburgh, Pa.). Jacobs led the way with his first home run of the season along with a double. Searer also had his first-career multi-hit game in only his second-career start.
