Despite tying the game in the top of the ninth inning, the Penn State baseball team lost, 5-4, when Texas State hit a walk-off single in the home half of the ninth.
Freshman Steve Snyder tied the game at four with an RBI infield single, but the Nittany Lions (4-8) couldn’t force the game into extra innings. Texas State’s Shaun Garcia singled to center field to plate the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to finish off a sweep of the Lions.
Lion starter Stephen Hill pitched a strong game while getting a no-decision. Hill went six innings and allowed two runs on eight hits.
