Purdue Holds Off Nittany Lion Comeback Attempt, 6-4
Ben Heath’s hitting streak was snapped at 19 games, but he did walk in the first inning and has now reached base safely in 20 straight contests.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A four-run first inning proved too much as a resilient Penn State baseball squad clawed back, but could never pull even in a 6-4 loss to Purdue on Saturday afternoon at Lambert Field. After a tough first innings, sophomore Ryan Ignas (North Wales, Pa.) settled down nicely to pitch into the sixth inning. Senior Louie Picconi (North Merrick, N.Y.) finished with two RBI, including a two-out double in the sixth inning to pull within 4-2. The Lions (14-19, 2-6 Big Ten) now look to salvage game three of the series on Sunday at 12 p.m.
