Wounded Warrior Benefit Game Highlights Big Weekend Series Against Michigan State
Nittany Lions begin the second half of their Big Ten schedule against the Spartans.
• The Penn State baseball team looks to knock off its second first-place team in as many weekends when it hosts Michigan State in a key series beginning Friday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Spartans (28-11, 7-5 Big Ten) are one of four teams tied atop the Big Ten standings, along with Ohio State, who the Nittany Lions (17-23, 4-8 Big Ten) topped (2-of-3) last weekend. The highlight of the series is Saturday afternoon’s first-annual Wounded Warrior Project Benefit Game.
• Saturday’s game was developed to honor and empower wounded warriors. Its purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public's aid for the needs of severely injured service members, to help severely injured men and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. WWP is a national, apolitical organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla. For more, check out the official event web page at GoPSUsports.com/woundedwarrior.
