UncleLar Take:
When you’re not winning, it’s hard to pick up saves. Hopefully, the second half of conference play gives Drew many more opportunities to pad his save totals.

O’Neil was one of three Big Ten Player’s named to the preseason watch list by USA Baseball. He joins Michigan’s Zach Putnam and Purdue’s Josh Lindblom on the prestigious list.
The Golden Spikes Award is one of baseball’s more prestigious awards. It’s sponsored by major league baseball and has been awarded for thirty years. While it technically open to any amateur baseball player, it has always been awarded to a collegian.

Robbie Wine named Joe Blackburn, Brian Ernst, and Paul Hawkins as the “First in the Wine Era” baseball captains.
When making the announcement Wine said
We are pleased to announce our team captains for the 2008 baseball team. Joe Blackburn, Paul Hawkins and Brian Ernst represent what being a Penn State student-athlete and a member of our baseball program is all about. They have earned the respect of the coaching staff and their teammates for their hard work both on and off the field. They are not only quality baseball players but excel in the classroom and are good citizens. Our captains will be an extension of the coaching staff and provide additional leadership for our squad.
